Unearthing Identities - Exhibition

  • Rising Run Workshop 1C Whateley Street Newtown (map)

From historical narratives to contemporary influences, the exhibition offers a dynamic insight into the evolving landscape of our local urban identity.

In partnership with University of Technology, Rising Sun Workshop, SPON and Young Henry’s

ONE NIGHT ONLY

Join us for an evening of exploration, dialogue, and inspiration, showcasing the culmination of a semester-long studio project by Masters of Architecture students from UTS, led by Architect and RSW co-founder Heleana Genaus, exploring the identity of the Newtown Enmore precincts through placemaking and adaptive re-use.

The exhibition will feature the results of intensive teamwork as students focussed on distinct areas or clusters of buildings along business highstreets within the precinct who have meticulously mapped, researched, and documented the precinct, unraveling its diverse layers and narratives.

Students have been challenged to select a specific building within the precinct and develop a unique client and brief for their site. Through collaborative efforts, proposals have been crafted to not only respond to one another but also to the overarching identity of the precinct as a whole.

Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with the multifaceted nature of the precinct’s identity as they navigate through the exhibition space. From historical narratives to contemporary influences, the exhibition offers a dynamic insight into the evolving landscape of urban identity.

Don’t miss this chance to witness how the next generation of architects and urban planners are confronting the complexities of the Newtown Enmore to ensure the district's vibrancy, diversity, and safety.
